On "Issei, He Says"
On "Salt Pepper Ketchup"
... Fenton Li excel in illuminating such adult problems as dealing with a new language, a new culture, and a new country, struggling with hardships they never bargained on, and needing to blame someone — anyone — for their feelings of pain and loss.
Mr. Chu has fewer chances to amuse, but Fenton Li makes the most of those, especially when sympathizing with Darren on Bewitched.
Although patriarchal in the extreme, Fenton Li nicely shades Mr. Chu's resistance to peaceful co-existence.
Fenton Li is marvelous as the focal John Wu, ...caught most between status quo and an obvious need to at some time adapt.
Probably the strongest performance is that of Fenton Li. His portrayal of the frustrated John Wu is tempered by glimpses of the man’s fear of losing all he’s created and his anguish in facing inevitable changes without knowing how to adapt.
In addition to a riveting story, director Henderson has assembled a uniformly stellar cast.
